The season in Tunisia - we look at it by months and put it on the shelves: when, where and how much to count (moreover, both in rubles and in degrees Celsius).

We will tell you what is the difference between "when is cheaper" and "when is better" to go to rest in Tunisia.

Start and end of the season in Tunisia

The tourist season for holidays in all its forms in Tunisia continues from May to Octoberwhen charters from Russian cities are actively flying. In other months, the resorts of Tunisia freeze, fall into suspended animation and become noticeably cheaper. In general, people come here to breathe in the sea and for spa treatments in winter.

The season flares up in Tunisia in June: the air temperature in the end gets up to + 30 ° С, the water temperature up to + 23.5 ° С (the exception is the island of Djerba, everything is + 26 ° С there). July and August can scare vacationers with dry heat and jellyfish. But in September the influx of tourists will be repeated - the velvet season is coming.

The off-season in Tunisia, as, probably, everywhere else, is the best time to "travel-see". If you love excursions, fly in early spring or late autumn. And another important point: Tunisian resorts stretch along the coast from north to south of the country. And in the same month in different places the climate may differ (as well as the concepts of season / off-season).

Where to look for cheap tours?

Online aggregators are good at this. They collect offers from all leading tour operators, suggest when to fly and are easy to use:

  • Travelata
  • Level.Travel
  • Onlinetours

Prices for tours are displayed directly from travel companies, but the plus is that you can reduce the cost of the tour using promotional codes.

✓ On average, the cost of a tour for two to Tunisia in the 2021 season is from 57,000 rubles for 7 days (all inclusive); on vacation for 10 days, you can fly away for 65 thousand

✓ Family tour (mom, dad, I am 2+ years old) will cost a minimum of 75,000 rubles per week

✓ Budgetary and seasonal Tunisia happens in early May and late October

Tunisia Monthly Weather - 2021

The weather in Tunisia is almost African. Almost - because the nights can be chilly and the heat is easier to bear than tourists imagine. All because of the winds blowing from the neighboring Sahara, then from the sea. It is they who "smooth out" the summer heat (the main thing is not to burn out under such a breeze) and cool the night air. And the rainy season, on the contrary, makes it especially chilly.

So, we analyze each season in Tunisia by months, weather surprises and the level of comfort.

Tunisia in March, April and May

Tunisia blooms in spring: spring is spring in Africa too!

In March winter rains can still fall on the heads of casual vacationers. The air temperature indefinitely jumps from + 15 ° С to + 25 ° С (at nights 5-10 degrees below). It is not worth even stuttering about the water temperature yet (+ 15 ° С, who is interested).

In April, the tourist season is expected to approach. Everything around is blooming and smelling, connoisseurs of leisurely walks and excursions are catching up. The air is steadily warming up to + 20 ° С (we remember the cool wind and take a jacket with us for the evening). By the end, you can take a chance and climb into the sea, but in the Djerba region, where the highest for April is + 20 ° C in the water.

In May, a beach holiday in Tunisia is gaining strength, and you can safely lie in the sun and eat strawberries, which are just ripening. Wind and rain are possible, but less frequent. On the street it heats up to + 27 ° С, the water warms up to + 20 ° С in all resorts. Our tourists swim already on the May holidays (again, in Djerba), but only those who are happy with + 21 ° С 🙂

If you ask what month is better to vacation in Tunisia in the spring, my answer is in April. When the season begins, you can save a lot (and compensate for the cold sea with a pool): prices for tours in April 2021 - from 45 thousand for two in 7 days!

Tunisia in June, July and August

Those who prefer the high season in its fullest sense should go to Tunisia in the summer.

The swimming season starts in June. Degrees in the air (+ 28 ° С) and water (+ 24 ° С) and prices for rest are growing. I will note that Tunisia at the beginning and at the end of June is different in terms of the degree of warming up. If you need a more or less warm sea, in the first half of the month it is better to go to Djerba, from the second half - anywhere.

The hottest and driest period of the year comes in July. In conditions of + 34 ° C in air and + 25 ° C in water, the most desirable object on vacation is an air conditioner. Only a few dare to go on excursions. However, at this time, hotels offer discounts - if a week for two in June costs from 58,000 rubles, then in July - from 53,000.

In August the beach season is disturbed by another charm of the resort life - the jellyfish season. In Tunisia, Sousse and Monastir are especially susceptible to such an invasion. Although it is difficult to guess which coast the jellyfish will choose for their beach holiday this summer.

Tunisia in September, October and November

The best season for a holiday in Tunisia is September and October. During November, the weather manages to surprise with summer heat, showers, and winter cold snap - Tunisia in autumn is more diverse than ever.

In September, the velvet season begins: families with children, pensioners and other tourists who are interested in weather comfort appear in Tunisia. The air temperature is + 30 ° С, the sun is not so active. The water, warmed up since summer, is + 27 ° С. In theory, everything is stable, but in September 2018, there was a real flood in Tunisia - to the extent that hotels and the airport were damaged.

The wonderful time continues in October: + 25 ° С during the day is conducive to sightseeing trips, the sea has not yet cooled down (+ 24 ° С and only towards the end it drops to + 22 ° С). Delicious Tunisian dates ripen in October. Prices for all this luxury are even slightly lower than summer ones: a tour for two adults - from 50,000 rubles for 7 nights.

In November the rainy season is raging. At sea - storms, it gets colder up to + 20 ° С during the day and + 16 ° С at night. Winter arrives in Tunisia. Find out where it is warm in November.

Tunisia in December, January and February

Chilly. But as a variety, you can go to the thermal springs (hot, of course) in the town of Corbus, 70 km from Hammamet.

The weather in Tunisia in winter is quite mild. Yes, it rains, but they are still replaced by the bright sun, which sometimes warms up to + 17 ° С. In general, Tunisia in winter turns into a world (I'm not afraid of this word) health resort: in the low season people come here and fly here for the sake of thalasso therapy centers.

December it's not very rainy yet. On New Year's Eve (read: almost all of December), "winter" hotels lure with discounts, and tour guides drop the price tag from $ 120 for the popular Sahara to $ 100.

In January Tunisia is flooding, the rainy season is in full swing. Only 10-12 bad days a month. The air temperature is comparable to December, + 13 ° С. Strange, but almond trees begin to bloom, and citrus fruits ripen. By the way, even in early January there are tours from Moscow to Tunisia. And people are driving!

In February warms up to + 16 ° С. There are fewer rainy days, especially in the south of the country. Tunisia is preparing for the arrival of spring. And to new tourists.

When is the best time to relax in Tunisia?

To decide when is the best to go, answer yourself: why are you going to Tunisia?

  • Want to catch the holiday season and rock out to its fullest? Then tune in for the summer months (preferably June), late May or early September. The weather will definitely not let you down. For me personally, the best month for a vacation in Tunisia is September!
  • Do you dream of putting another check mark on the world map “I've been here, I've seen it”? Can't you wait until you personally photograph all the ruins, see a live camel and bring 100,500 souvenirs? Then welcome to Tunisia in April or October. This is the most suitable period for excursions. And vendors in local markets are more accommodating at this time.
  • The beach season in Tunisia does not interest you, you just want to relax your body and soul, smeared with life-giving mud? Come in winter. When the good weather ends, and the rains disperse the numbers of belated bathers, it is time for complete relaxation.

If you have already decided when to fly on vacation, move on to the next item.

What to see in Tunisia?

Take any Tunisian travel guide booklet, and you will be immediately offered excursions to the ruins of Carthage, sent on a quad bike ride across the Sahara, or there to meet the sunrise on camels ($ 120 for two days, as already mentioned).

But Tunisia doesn't stop there. Therefore, for you, my personal selection of attractions:

  1. Cape Angela is the northernmost point of the African continent; the most convenient way to get there is from Bizerte. And it's better in spring (because it's more beautiful).
  2. Lake Shott el Jerid is a salt lake with reddish-purple water and mirages. Located in the central part of the country. Visit in the summer, when the drying water creates those very mirages.
  3. Natural Park "Ishkel" - the lake of the same name in the park is fed by hot mineral springs, in which you can immerse yourself for 20 minutes. Isn't it an addition to the resort spa?
  4. Of course, the village of Tatooine! About her, too, is in any advertising brochure. But I'm a Star Wars fan, so I'm sorry. You should definitely go there!
  5. Zaguan Park at the foot of the Zaguan Mountains. In addition to the mountains themselves, people go there to see the Temple of Water, from which the ancient water supply system of local cities began.

Reviews about Tunisia

Finally, we will find out what useful reviews of tourists will advise us:

  • Most often, the choice of a potential vacationer falls on Tunisia, because there is no need for a visa. But do not forget that this is a rather poor country ... Be prepared to see an unsightly picture outside the hotel. And the hotels themselves here should be chosen at least 4 *
  • Some tourists after the trip are outraged by the poor condition of the beaches. This also directly depends on the category of the chosen hotel - the more stars, the cleaner the sand on the beaches
  • Tunisia is a Muslim country. On the territory of the hotel complex, you can walk in a bikini, if you please, go to the city in closed clothes.
  • For the same reason, alcohol is freely available only in hotels. But I think this is quite enough;)
  • Valuable advice - take euros or dollars with you on your trip. Rubles are not changed there. And by the way, it is more profitable to change, oddly enough, in hotels
  • Change exactly the amount that you need. Otherwise, before leaving, you will have to convert the Tunisian dinars back into Eureka or dollars. It is prohibited to export the national currency from Tunisia
  • If you are sending a child to Tunisia with a grandmother (i.e. without parents), do not forget to issue a consent to leave.

When is it cheaper to vacation in Tunisia?

According to most experienced tourists, a vacation in Tunisia is cheaper in April or October. During these months, you can catch a tour at a very "tasty" price.

Should you go there out of season (December-February)? If you really want to, then why not. But considering how long to fly to Tunisia, in the absence of charter flights, the flight will eat up all the savings. For example, a round-trip air ticket in February will cost from 22,000 rubles per person.
