It falls into our list of attractions in Batumi and its surroundings, because it is located 8 kilometers from the city center. From the middle of the building, you can already see the mountains with buildings on them. In addition to its cult significance, Mount Sameba boasts viewing platforms. They offer a view of the amazing mountain peaks. Tourists on the forums recommend spending at least 1 hour in the afternoon here, as there are very beautiful observation decks.

Monument to Ilya Chavchavadze
One of the monuments in Batumi is dedicated to this outstanding figure, whose name is associated with the former rise of Georgian culture. The monument contains a lot of small details. Connoisseurs of architecture and design subtleties can consider it for a long time. A serious disadvantage is the inconvenient location of the monument.
Alphabet tower
The official name is the tower of the Georgian alphabet. It is similar in shape to the DNA helix. This geometry is not accidental: the importance and fundamental nature of writing, its ancient roots are emphasized. The tower is 130 meters high. The ideal time to visit is in the evening.
Machakhela National Park
He is often recommended, telling what to see in Batumi and the surrounding area. Excursions there are held in the warm season (no earlier than half of April and no later than October). The park occupies a site near the Georgian-Turkish border. The guides are ready not only to show the unique observation area, the wonderful forest, the Mirveti waterfall; a worthy crown of the program is the traditional feast. And on the way to its place, you still have to look at the Gvara fortress, walk along the suspension bridge, inspect the bunker, the former mosque (and now the ethnographic museum).
Advice: when leaving Batumi, it is better to take local spices with you.
Kintrish reserve
When you have finished exploring the city, you can safely go there. The status of the reserve has been in effect since 1959. Since 2007, it has been supplemented with the status of a national park. Gonio
The correct answer to the question of what to see in Batumi is primarily for beach lovers. The resort village is located 10 kilometers south of the capital of the region; the water is cleaner there, but there is no difference in the appearance of the coast. Mostly couples rest in Gonio. The length of the beach strip is 2000 meters, up to 50% of which is accompanied by a boulevard.
Most tourists do not like to stay here and choose to rest in Batumi. From there, the journey takes only 20 minutes. Why not? Bad hotels, food is not for everyone (very fatty dishes), not all goods are in stores. In the reviews, many emphasize the proximity to the road.
Nevertheless, we include this place in our rating of interesting places where it is worth spending the whole day with the whole family.
Sarpi
If you can devote more time to beach leisure, then this site, located 20 kilometers south of the Batumi line, is quite suitable. The bottom is visible at 3 - 4 meters. Small hotels and inexpensive guest houses were immediately placed. Trade and food infrastructure is available, but not very diverse. Sarpi's territory is divided into Georgian and Turkish segments.
For your information: The dominant nationality here is Laz.
Petra
It is not difficult to find a route to the ruins of a fortress from the Byzantine period. It will be necessary to go along the road to Kobuleti, and after 15 kilometers be in the village of Tsikhisdziri. It is not the fortress itself that attracts so much as the landscape surrounding it. It is known that Petra was founded during the reign of Justinian. After its construction, its commandant, John Tsiv, made sorties for the systematic robbery of local residents. Once Petra was captured by the Persians, and in the course of one of the following conflicts it was destroyed by the Byzantines themselves - "so that the barbarians would not use it again."
Ureki and Magnetiti
These beaches are located 50 kilometers north of the city. But we cannot fail to mention them, because these are really interesting places that we recommend to see with our own eyes. The shore there is strewn with black sand, which also has magnetic properties. From the end of June until the end of summer, a lot of tourists gather in Ureki. Optimal seasons are June and September.
Mtirala
Another national park that stands out even by the standards of Mountainous Adjara. Literally translated, this name means "weeping mountain". A special microclimate with extreme humidity allows growing on the slopes of "almost tropical" jungle. Some of the local plants are listed in the Red Book, and you should not pick anything. The area of the reserve reaches 6,000 hectares. Crossing the river on a manually driven trailer costs 1 GEL. Those wishing to touch the extreme pay 15 GEL for a high-altitude attraction. A place in the campsite costs 5 GEL, twice as much is paid for the right to organize a picnic. In the absence of equipment, it will be rented at the entrance.
For your information: Excursions show only a small portion of the area. It is advisable to take independent walks.
Swamps of Spain in Kobuleti
They are mentioned in reviews and on forums when they figure out where to go for a tourist on their own. Grace and attractiveness are created not only by peat bogs, but also by rare birds flying to nest. It is convenient to observe them in their natural habitat. Since 1999, the territory has had a reserve status. High humidity allows this area to be attributed to the subtropical zone. The moss that covers the swamps is unique. Rhododendrons, the rarest royal fern, grow on land, and a lot of species of birds, fish and amphibians live. You can see the otter, spotted eagle, frigate, kingfisher, snipe, kestrel.
Advice: Just be sure to bring rubber boots and mosquito spray.
Gobroneti
This Adjarian village is notable for its picturesque beauty. 73 families live there. The road to the east takes 55 kilometers. The height above the sea reaches 800 meters. It was here that the first Adjarian guest house was opened. A visit is recommended in spring, summer and autumn. Tourists can get acquainted with traditional beekeeping and poultry farming, cooking, and go fishing. Weavers, basket makers, winemakers will delight.
Mirveti
This ancient village is remembered by 100% of experts, talking about beautiful places in Batumi and the surrounding area. A number of finds allow us to conclude that they lived here already in the 6th century AD. Within the boundaries of the settlement, tourists will find a waterfall, which can be reached along a picturesque path. She walks through a boxwood forest. The trees around seem like plush toys.
Shekvetili
A weighty answer to the question of where to go for a tourist on his own - if there is a deep passion for beaches. It should be borne in mind right away that the infrastructure here is weak, as in Ureki in the late 1990s. Asphalt pavers have not yet arrived in this area. Pleases black magnetic sand on the shore. But the choice of hotels, shops and catering is scarce. The beach area is huge, there is no mud in the sea, and they enter the water along a sloping section. Pines grow nearby, overloading by vacationers is not noticed. The shortage of hotel rooms is partially compensated by the fact that a five-star hotel with Spa service has been placed here.

Not suitable for visiting families with children ... but still, without such a cross-section, the idea of Adjara will be incomplete. The tasting room is combined with a restaurant. The local winery has been operating for over 200 years, replenishing stocks in the cellar. The place is famous especially for its unusual variety of rosé wine - Porto franco, a bottle will cost from 50 GEL. There are also other varieties from 15 GEL.
